I feel bad for skipping working out when I get sick, but it’s not just that
– it takes me a while to get back healthy again – from 1 week to and a
half, which is enough to break my “flow of motivation”.
Is it okay to continue working out when you get sick?
Well said Mike! A good way to notice this is by listening to the excuses
given proactively by your surrounding work out acquaintances why they were
unable to work out last time and the day before that… I could care less
whether to come or not, as long as my own consistent work out sessions are
done. They are just lying to themselves.
I love working out as much as the next guy, but I’d never consistently
prioritize working out over having fun with friends. I’d never skip a
planned workout more than once or twice, but saying it’s wrong to have fun
out instead of following my workout plan 100% perfect is a bit excessive,
despite the consequences.
You should almost never put your workouts priority than being with friends
and family, NEVER, most people like me don’t rest enough anyways, we NEED
rest days for muscles to rebuild and recovery , 1 To 2 days off are
perfectly fine and you should feel proud you chose friends and family AND
much needed rest your body needs to recovery, 90% of body lifters
overtrain.

bet you won’t be working out everyday once you hit 50. working out
everyday is the foolish obsession of the young.
What about physically? If I literally miss one workout will that mess up my
metabolism, muscle growth rate, etc?
