I was STILL diagnosed with diverticulosis when I was 37 after a colonoscopy, I had always ate 25-30 grams of fiber a day plus supplemented that with an aloe vera supplement from my early 20’s so I do not agree with his statement on that at all but some of his points are valid IMO
I have a question, If I don’t know how harmed is my gut how can I know which doses and which probiotics, would be best to use?, as well I would like to know if probiotics, acidophilus, enzymes should be taken together to a better result or if all of them work differently therefor they can be taken one without the other??
The answer is maybe. Blending is really just mechanical breakdown, not much different than chewing. There 2 concerns: 1- possible infection, eColi, salmonella, other bacteria, etc., from raw foods, even organic. 2- proper digestion from uncooked foods, especially tough fibrosis veggies. Some foods cannot be properly digested raw & you’d be missing out on some of the nutrients. Not a big of raw veggies myself, wouldn’t want them to just pass through w/out getting as many nutrients as I can.
Will putting whole vegetables in a blender with water break down the fiber or reduce the health benefits of the vegetables? I’m not talking about juicing, i’m talking about just blending things like broccoli, califlower, kayle, cucumbers and such.
How do you recommend coming off ranitidine (300 mg 2 x day)? Each time I miss a pill, I get massive reflux. I have Barrett’s and trying to stop meds seems like playing with fire (pun intended lol)
Pure baking soda, not baking powder, stops heartburn. It says so right on the box. No need to buy Tums. Put a teaspoon of baking soda in a cup of water and drink it.
Probably not without strict supervision from your gastro. Barrett’s could be a “pre-cancerous” condition. You certainly want to avoid exasperating that. Its not something you should do on your own.
I had heartburn until I saw a video that said garlic was a poison. I don’t know if that’s really true, but I got rid of years of heartburn that stopped abruptly afterwards!
If you have to be on a PPI, e.g., Nexium, you should be checking your magnesium levels. It can be done with your standard blood work. Magnesium deficiently can have many health consequences over time, especially for women, such as osteoporosis, because you body will pull magnesium from other needed places.
I had a stomach infection for around 10 years without knowing which caused me major heartburn and bloating. It wasn’t diagnosed till i had a gastroscopy i had two duodenal ulcers. I had this cured with antibiotics an im now acid reflux free!!
I’m a huge fan of psychetruth, but I think this video falls a little short. GI problems, regardless which, have increased dramatically over the last decade, and so have the Rx meds for it. The title for this video is not really fitting as I didn’t hear any advise other than eat a better diet to answer any of the questions. Certainly its a very complicated question, and this was more like a quick overview. I think it deserved a little time.
Not at all, go ahead and take the probiotic, they’re perfectly safe. Remember, they work by adding friendly bacteria to you lower GI track. The only thing is you might have to experiment to find one that works for you. You’ll know it when it does. If I may, try a brand called “PB8″ (veggie). They’re inexpensive, available all over, and work great.

That’s a long time, a simple endoscopy & biopsy would’ve found your infection; its a 20 minute procedure.

Im a med student an agree with all of this. Start with your diet folks.

I’d say I have pretty bad acid reflux. Water always makes it act up and just about anything that isn’t milk, makes it worse.
