   Our tax money should be paying for all public services including roads, so
   we shouldn’t have to pay any other fees. They keep taking advantage of us
   and we need to stand up for our rights.. we need to find a way to change
   this abuse.

   There’s nothing wrong with private roads and “profit.” I’m against
   public-private partnerships because they tend to raise costs and become
   corrupt, but if they are totally private, then they most please the
   consumers or face going out of business. There’s nothing inherently bad
   about profit as seems to the assumption on this video. Our “public” roads
   are outdated and lead to 20 to 40 thousand deaths per year, and the
   government doesn’t do anything to solve this problem.

   I just want to know how long before only the rich can travel in this
   country? I see the beginning of huge socio-economic zones. Not only will
   the poor be trapped mentally in a pattern that produces offspring being
   taught poor mindsets, but eventually they’ll be trapped geographically! I
   don’t even want to speculate on how this will affect the middle class. More
   than a few of whom commute. It’s paying to get to and from the corporation
   that could very likely own the road one uses to get there. It’s a huge bill
   that will discourage some spending. That affects local economies. Example:
   $10 a day to and from work x 5 days a week x 4 weeks a month = a $200/mo
   bill to work to pay for all your other bills. Not to mention unemployment
   rates. The job market being so competitive might force people to commute.
   It might spell unemployment for those who can’t afford to commute. Let’s
   face it. People will do it for fear of being without a job. I could go on
   and on. THIS IS A DISASTER!
   Corporations grow their businesses so buying roads will not stop, it will
   expand. How long before other corporations jump on the band wagon? After
   all, everyone would invest if they knew the couldn’t lose. That’s exactly
   what this is. An investment where the corporation can’t lose.

    That’s exactly what happened in Ontario, Canada. ETR 407, build by tax
    payers handed to Spanish co. for 99 years since 1998. Politicians decided
    that behind closed doors and now citizens paying toll and gas tax rising
    every year. Poor can’t afford this highway.

    ETR407 toll road scam ruined many people’s way of life to profit few
    investors who paid just right amount to Harris’ PC government. Our media
    never talks about how Mike Harris ruined Ontario’s gov’t services.

    You got to know the whole picture on public work projects as well as
    financing which are in decline from the federal level, many funds are
    brought in by state and local bonds as well as developers themselves. Many
    roads would NOT be possible without these cooperation in both public and
    private sectors. She is NOT speaking the whole truth and many of us will
    have to do without just like Los Angeles/Atlanta facing horrible gridlock
    without end in sight.

    I agree that such high speed limits (85mph!) are a safety hazard. People

    It’s the same concept happening with the privatization of the prison system
    — thus more prisoners = more profit. You should do a segment on this.
